Project SARD (Society For All Around Development)

Bringing marginalised children to the mainstream & empowering them to demand good educaton.

SARD is emerging as a unique education project in Bharatpur district of Rajasthan and has been very successful in promoting education and in the development of child friendly and responsive schools. The Kaman block of Bharatpur district has emerged as the role model of high quality education having active participation of all the stakeholders, which includes the student, teachers, parents and the community on the whole. This project is being run in more than 25 village of Bharatput district and more than 1200 children are getting education in the government schools, where they are covering both the curriculum and non-curriculum activities.

Unique Features of the Project

One of the unique aspect of this project is the establishment of three stage child rights group in all the villages, which are "Baal Mandal (having children below 18 year of age)" Child Protection Committee (adult and youth members "Baal Samiti (having two children from each village)" three groups enable the children in demanding discrimination free access to education and also ensures active participation of parents and community members. Earlier children used to work in small shops & other places and they had no access to education at all. but this is only the tireless effort of the Child Right Group that today there is not a single child who is out of school now.

The Child Right Group is active in the region for the past 3 years and has very successfully created a favorable atmosphere for education in the region. Now the drop-out students, child labours and girls joining the school in the region clearly indicates that the "SARD Project" has made a significant impact on the rural mindset and the society.
